Investing in immunisation: Strengthening Europe’s Competitiveness, Resilience and Global Health Security

On 11 June 2026, a high-level policy dialogue in Luxembourg brought together policymakers and stakeholders to discuss the role of immunisation in Europe’s fiscal sustainability, competitiveness and health security. IFPMA and Vaccines Europe, in collaboration with The European House of Ambrosetti (TEHA), published two documents linked to the dialogue.

The briefing document sets out the economic and fiscal case for investing in preventive care, examines how the New Economic Governance Framework can support it, and presents policy asks for EU and national decision-makers.

The summary document captures the main points raised during the dialogue, including national experiences from Italy and Portugal. It also includes a letter from Federico Freni, Italian Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
