Vaccines Europe is recruiting a Manager, Policy and Government Affairs who will report to Vaccines Europe Executive Director. This position provides a great opportunity to actively engage in the EU policy making process, with EU policy makers and other stakeholders, and to learn about the vaccines industry.

Vaccines Europe (VE), is a specialised trade group within the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), the professional association of the pharmaceutical industry in Europe. Vaccines Europe represents major innovative research-based vaccine companies as well as small and medium sized enterprises operating in Europe which account for a large share of human vaccines used worldwide. Companies represented within Vaccines Europe are involved in research and development (R&D), clinical trials, production and marketing of vaccines and are dedicated to improving public health through immunisation.

The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) represents the pharmaceutical industry operating in Europe.

The mission of Vaccines Europe is to support improved access to immunisation, enabling better protection of the health of individuals and the wider community throughout life, with both existing vaccines and those in development.

Vaccines Europe is devoted to:

  • proactively representing and voicing industry views on key issues of common interest being discussed at EU level;
  • raising awareness about the value and benefit of vaccines and vaccination and the contribution of the vaccine industry in Europe and worldwide.

Vaccines Europe aims to:

  • foster a favorable policy climate for the vaccine industry in Europe in order to facilitate availability and access to new and innovative vaccines worldwide;
  • create a supportive environment for improved vaccine protection, innovative vaccine development and improved coverage throughout life in the interest of individuals and the community;
  • support vaccine R&D through innovative vaccine applications.

Vaccines Europe is a recognized and key interlocutor for the EU institutions, engaged in several EU initiatives around vaccination.


Role and responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
    • Coordinate the work of VE Working Groups, such as of the Public Affairs and Market Access Working Groups or of the National Trade Association Network.
      • Preparation and organization of f2f meetings, and follow-up to ensure the implementation of strategies and priorities agreed
      • Drafting and editing of position papers, presentations, briefings, reports, internal notes, meeting minutes
  • Support VE executive director in the preparation of VE Board Meetings and meetings with external stakeholders
  • Representing Vaccine Europe at external events when appropriate
  • Proactive intelligence gathering and follow-up on key policy developments
  • Organisation of ad hoc internal and external events
  • producing newsletters, brochures / external publications, also in collaboration with contractors
  • Developing and implementing digital strategy of Vaccine Europe such as website content update, news section creation and handling of VE online presence on social media (Twitter account)


Candidate’s Profile:

  • EU citizen
  • Master’s Degree in public policy, political science, EU studies, or a related field;
  • At least 3 years of experience in the Brussels policy/communications environment
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills
  • Good IT skills, familiarity with common office software package and with social media, powerpoint presentation


The following would be assets:

  • Good knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry / healthcare sector;
  • Experience of the functioning of European institutions and EU decision-making process;
  • Experience in working in a trade association, pharmaceutical company or a Brussels based consultancy;
  • Experience in managing working groups and projects.
  • Autonomy


Skills:

  • Excellent analytical, attention to detail, communication (written and spoken);  organisational skills and a strong team-oriented approach;
  • Highly flexible, comfortable with managing multiple projects in a dynamic environment – sometimes against short deadlines, combined with an ability to adapt to constantly evolving external and internal environments;
  • Strong networking and collaboration skills.


Vaccines Europe offers:
