Continuous investment in vaccine research, development, and production represents a major public health strength and economic asset for the European Union (EU). While Vaccines Europe members are global in nature, the majority of their operations are based in Europe, with 79% of their global production coming from the region. With a 47% growth in R&D investment over the past eight years and about 50% of current R&D projects based in the EU, Vaccines Europe members highly contribute to innovation and a knowledge-based economy in Europe.
